As April begins, so starts a new month of enjoyable activities in the tranquil small-town setting of California’s Tri-Valley. The area makes a great escape from the city life of the San Francisco Bay Area for those looking for an easy staycation.

Wine and song
Every Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m., enjoy the sweet sounds of Acoustic Wednesday at Wood Family Vineyards in Livermore. In addition to live music, Acoustic Wednesday features Wood Family wines for sale to enjoy with a rotating selection of musicians performing. The event is free to the public, and reservations can be made through Tock.
Make your own Charcuterie
If you need some inspiration for food ideas to bring to your Easter celebration, BottleTaps in Pleasanton is hosting an Easter Charcuterie Class from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, April 12. Local charcuterie specialists, Board & Box Co., will be on hand to teach attendees how to create your own special Easter-themed charcuterie board.
The class includes all materials, including either a bunny- or egg-shaped cutting board to take home. The class is for anyone, regardless of their level of charcuterie. Entry is $50 per person, and reservations can be made online through Square.
Laugh out loud
Those in town on Friday, April 18 can see comedians try to one up one another at the Best of SF Comedy Competition. Starting at 8 p.m. at the Bankhead Theater in Livermore, the night will feature a variety of the best comics sure to make you laugh; the event page on the Bankhead website assures participation from “the funniest stand-up comedians who have ever graced the stage.” Tickets are available online from $25 to $55 each.
Hop into Pleasanton tradition
Families visiting Pleasanton for Easter weekend will find a festive atmosphere at the Bunny Hop Scavenger Hunt in downtown Pleasanton on April 19 from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Children 10 and under will start the event at the Museum on Main with their families, who will be given a list of clues relating to locations around the downtown area.
Those clues will help you find participating local businesses to collect treats at this event, and kids may even get to see the Easter Bunny for a meet and greet and photo opportunity. The event is free to attend.
Heading the Office
Fans of “The Office” will enjoy The Office Trivia with “Todd Packer” at the Bankhead Theater on Friday, April 25 at 8 p.m. The event is hosted by David Koechner, who played Todd on the hit show, and will compete in multiple rounds of questions to test your knowledge of “The Office.”
This competition goes beyond trivia alone: After the questions are over, Koechner will judge participants’ acting skills in a final showdown to win the event, with prizes available for high-performing teams. Tickets cost $25 to $70 each and are available online from Livermore Valley Arts.
Mariachi music
Visitors to the Tri-Valley the weekend before Cinco de Mayo can celebrate by seeing Mariachi Herencia de México at the Bankhead Theater at 8 p.m. on Saturday, May 3. Mariachi Herencia de México is a group that has been nominated for two Latin Grammy Awards, and they’re known to pay homage to traditional Mariachi music of the past while crafting their own distinct modern sound.
At this concert, the band will perform music from their latest album, “Our Latin Thing.” Tickets are available online for $25 to $90.
