Music to our ears
Those looking for musical experiences have several options in the Tri-Valley, including Tuesday Tunes at Bankhead Theater Plaza’s Shea Homes Stage in Livermore for an outdoor concert series. Arranged by the Livermore Cultural Arts Council, the concerts highlight a variety of local bands spanning the spectrum of musical genres. These free performances take place every Tuesday from 6:45 to 8:15 p.m. until Aug. 20, with the full lineup on the Tuesday Tunes webpage.
In Pleasanton, our Concert in the Park series continues every Friday until Aug. 30. Bring your blanket or camp chairs, and head to the natural surroundings of the city’s Lions Wayside Park to enjoy a variety of musical genres. The events are free.
For a chill evening relaxing with music and wine, try Acoustic Wednesdays at Wood Family Vineyards (4-7 p.m. weekly) or their Music Bingo (First Thursday of every month) from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Speaking of wine…
The Tri-Valley has a variety of vineyards to explore, and one of the best ways to do so on a warm summer night is to experience Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night at Livermore’s Darcie Kent Vineyards. Shakespeare and Performing Arts Regional Company (SPARC) will perform the classic at 7:30 p.m. every Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from July 5 to 28, along with a Thursday performance on July 18.
Twelfth Night is a romantic comedy of mistaken identities, identical twins, loves found and loves lost. Featuring modern adaptations by Jennifer Le Blanc, this play will give you an evening to remember while enjoying local wine straight from the vineyard where it’s made.
Ticket prices range from $13.25 to $63.25 before taxes and fees and are available online.
Take a swing
Golf aficionados visiting the Tri-Valley can participate in the 2nd Annual Dennis Hart Open tournament at Pleasanton’s Callippe Preserve Golf Course on July 12. Gates open for check-in, breakfast, and practice at 7:30 a.m., while the games officially start at 9 a.m.
Bring your best clubs and team of four players to fight for the top score. With a four-person scramble tournament format spread over 18 holes, entry includes food, drinks and a donation to the Dennis J. Hart Memorial Foundation charity.
Entry costs $225 per person or $750 for a complete team of four, with registration available on Eventbrite.
Night Market returns
If you’re visiting the Tri-Valley toward the end of the month, the 626 Night Market returns to the Alameda County Fairgrounds from July 26-28. This popular event is a great opportunity to explore a variety of vendors for merchandise and food. Taking place from 3 to 11 p.m. on Friday and 1 to 11 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, the 626 Night Market takes inspiration from night markets in Asia, which feature a variety of retail and culinary delights and entertainment on offer.
The Night Market’s return to Pleasanton will feature more than 200 vendors that, in addition to food and retail goods, will offer arts and crafts, games, music and more entertainment. Entry costs $5 per person or $9 for a three-day weekend pass from the 626 Night Market website, with parking available for $15 per vehicle.
Artisan day in Livermore
On July 27, the Livermore community is coming together for the Vasco Row Jam in July block party in the Vasco Row Maker’s District. From 12 to 8 p.m., Vasco Row businesses will offer drinks, food, and goods from local artisans, with live music onsite as well. The event is free to attend and explore a taste of Livermore.
Learn about nature
Visitors planning ahead can see a glimpse of local nature with Museum on Main’s Family Days: Explore Nature with East Bay Parks event on Aug.3 at the Pleasanton museum. From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., the Sunol Wilderness Preserve’s mobile visitor center will be onsite with activities, games, and crafts to help educate attendees on local nature. This event is free to the public and a great activity to take your kids to for education about our local natural surroundings.
