Super Toy & Comic Book Show

Whether you’re a kid or kid at heart, you’ll love the Super Toy & Comic Book Show on Aug. 20 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds: it’s been the largest Toy and Collectible Show in Northern California for more than 20 years. Browse 150 tables of vintage to modern toys, comics, and collectibles; visit with artists; check out video game memorabilia; and much more.
Admission is $15 for early birds (open at 9:30 a.m.); $10 general admission (11:30 a.m. or later) and $5 for children 12 and under. Parking is $15; credit card only.

Rita Rudner at the Bankhead

Stand-up comedian Rita Rudner plays the Bankhead Theater in Livermore at 8 p.m. Aug. 20. She holds the title for longest-running and most successful one-person comedy show in Las Vegas, and once you hear her trademark clever observations and seen her icepick-sharp timing, you’ll know why. Tickets are $20-$80 and are going fast, so buy online soon!

Comedy Night at Gilman Brewing

If you miss Rita Rudner’s act, you can still catch some laughs at Gilman Brewing, 706 Main St. in downtown Pleasanton. Every Wednesday at 7:30 p.m., the pub hosts a comedy night for $12. See some of the Bay Area’s funniest folks and national headliners in a friendly taproom setting. Get tickets on Eventbrite.

Goodguys West Coast Nationals Car Show

Known as the Crown Jewel of Goodguys’ car shows, their longest-running national event—RaceDeck West Coast Nationals—is the perfect blend of old school traditions and new trends, with more than 3,000 of America’s finest 1997 and older Hot Rods, customs, Muscle cars, trucks, and classics. It runs Aug. 26-28 at the Alameda County Fairgrounds. Check their website for tickets.

Concerts in the Park

Don’t miss out on one of Pleasanton’s favorite summertime activities: our Concerts in the Park! On Aug. 12, 19 and 26 from 7 to 8:30 p.m., downtown Pleasanton hosts outdoor concerts featuring classic rock, country and more at Lions Wayside Park at First and Neal streets. Bring a blanket or chairs (no tarps, please) and a takeout meal and join the fun. Dogs are allowed on leash only; responsible alcohol consumption is permitted.
