Downtown Welcomes Back Visitors with Traffic Closures to Keep Shoppers Safe

At last our downtown is starting to reopen. Here at The Rose Hotel in Pleasanton, we have remained open these past months, offering shelter to those traveling, and special rates for our first responders and active National Guard.

Pleasanton HotelThe Alameda County Public Health Department issued new guidelines for the modified opening of businesses effective June 19, allowing the reopening of outdoor museums, outdoor restaurant dining, religious services, indoor/outdoor retail, and outdoor fitness classes. All of these reopenings come with guidelines and restrictions, which can be reviewed here.

It’s going to be great to see our downtown have pedestrians and shoppers again, even if we take it slowly and everyone continues to practice social distancing.

This past weekend over Father’s Day marked the first of 8 scheduled traffic closures in downtown Pleasanton. The closures are to give shoppers and diners enough space. The association has outlined tips for shopping, parking, for business owners, and other pertinent information about reopening here.

According to the Downtown Pleasanton Association, “This implementation will address the need for physical distancing and interior capacity limitations at the direction of the Alameda County Public Health Department. The goal is to make our downtown accessible to as many people along this spectrum of varying opinions as possible in an effort to support our downtown businesses.”

Our restaurants reopened over the weekend with outdoor dining and additional space for tables with the street closures as part of the first Weekend on Main. The closures will continue each weekend through Aug. 9.

Higher risk businesses, such as indoor museums, bars, music venues, gyms and community centers will remain closed until the next phase of California’s reopening is approved.

Local wineries continue to provide pick-up and carryout, while some will also deliver. Most are also providing virtual tours and tastings (register for a virtual tour and you’re set for a delivery of wine to taste – and/or purchase.)
